Valeria Sweet (Actress/Author)

What are you looking forward to this week?

I’m having a Vision boarding party with my girls at my place, finalizing edits for the first draft of a finale of my mini-series, and having lots of meetings about upcoming projects!

Which parallel universe versions of yourself would you want to meet and why?

I actually just met her! A year ago I was thinking that in a parallel universe I would be a therapist or something and then I said to myself, “Life is too short to think about parallel universes! Go out and do it all! Live out all of your wildest dreams! Don’t spend another day not pursuing your interests!” And then I published a self-help book about mindset and relationships and now hold workshops on Living Your Dream Life through Manifestations and Visionboarding.

What's the most fulfilling aspect of acting?

Being able to inspire and empower others to follow their dreams, whatever they may be. They see you following your dreams and they decide that if you can do it, they can do it too. They can pursue their vision of their life. That’s beautiful. And if you can tell a story in a way that helps others understand their life better and figure a problem out or settle a quarrel, that’s a cherry on top. And that’s what I strive to and why I also became a writer and director.

Acting is often regarded as a glamorous profession, what is the biggest misunderstanding about acting?

All the cold days you have to play as if it’s hot outside! Actresses have to wear dresses, heels, swimsuits, etc, no matter the weather or what time of day. Shailene Woodley once kept sharing a coat with me on set of a film because we were filming a scene outside in October at 2 am, and I was in a revealing dress. I've had hand warmers with me every day since filming a commercial in a swimsuit by the ocean, with fake rain, on a cold night in April years ago! Brrr.

Should everyone on the planet be striving toward a common goal? If so, what would that be?

Loving people! I believe love alone can save this world. If we could just set aside our differences and love other human beings, and be loved in return, there wouldn’t be so much commotion in the world. Happy people don’t want to hurt others.
