Karoline Gora (Yoga Teacher)

What gets you excited about life?

Knowing I have the choice to create the type of day I would like to have and do what I love for a living. That the possibilities for my ideas and goals are endless.

What life lesson did you learn the hard way?

Fear will always be present and it’s ultimately up to you how to want to handle it. Are you going to allow fear to get in the way of moving forward or are you going to acknowledge that it's an opportunity for change and growth.

I let my fear of failure get in the way of pursuing my goals for years. I wasted a lot of time that I’ll never get back trying to work up the courage to take the leap to release a project or tweaked an idea endlessly to try and make it perfect.

Your first project, idea or product will not be perfect so quit wasting time waiting for perfection. Just go for it!!

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would your message be?

You get one shot at life and we’re not here for a long time so be kind to others, get out into nature, live your own life instead of worrying about what others think and do what makes you happy.

Make the most out of what time we have here.

What has life taught you recently?

How important it is to be kind and compassionate to yourself.

To pat myself on the back when I completed a task or goal no matter if it was big or small.

Negative self talk can have such a detrimental affect on your mental health.

What drawn you into yoga? how has it impacted your way of life?

Towards my last semester in college, I wanted to adapt a healthier lifestyle and improve the way I felt internally. I felt moody and lethargic.

There was a Lululemon store in a mall across the street from my college that used to hold a few free yoga classes each month. One Sunday morning I went with a friend of mine and couldn’t believe how peaceful and calm I felt after class.

Its been 9 years since I took that first yoga class and while it’s made me stronger, more flexible and increased my body awareness the biggest impact it’s had on my life is giving me the ability to reduce my anxiety and stress through breathwork and movement.

What do you enjoy the most in teaching yoga?

I love seeing students show up to make time for themselves.

Guiding them through mindfulness and movements that leave them with a calmness they can carry with them for the rest of their day.

In the haste of your daily life, what are you not seeing?

It’s so easy for me to get tied up in the latest project idea or my future goals that I forget to acknowledge my progress and achievements over the past few weeks, months and years. You gotta gas yourself up on a regular basis to keep that motivation and confidence up!
